Four Pillows in a Row - Shiny Stars

Image
After making two other pillows, namely the Dahlia and the Harlequin Tapestry , here's my third one: the Shiny Stars. Actually it's a pattern for a blanket from the book Haken en Kleur (Crochet and Color in Dutch, you can order the book at this site ) again, but I used a smaller hook, thinner yarn and less stars to create a pillow instead of a blanket. www.betweennapsontheporch.net ~*~ I bought this cute bird in Lanzarote as a souvenir.

Rancho Texas

Image
As you could read yesterday we went to Lanzarote, one of the Canary Islands, a group of islands belonging to Spain. One of the highlights there, although not typically Lanzarotic, or even Spanish, was Rancho Texas. Rancho Texas is a very small zoo, but it all looks so very well preserved and has so much detail, that it's the gem of the island, I think. An oasis in the somewhat dry and colorless surroundings that the volcanic island of Lanzarote is. I could make some nice animal pictures, as you can see here.   Colorful Cameleons.  The one below is just about to catch a larvae with its very large tongue. Back Home!

Image
This night we came back from our holidays after a four hour flight from Lanzarote. Maybe you've heard about the plane crash in the Ukraine this week, where about 300 people, mostly Dutch, lost their life, so I'm glad I can say I'm back in the Netherlands, save at home.  Our cats were waiting for us, glad to see us and purring all the time. Only that is reason enough to have cats: they're so happy you're back (mostly because you can fill up their food bowl, of course, after simulating the neighbour didn't feed them for days). Here are some pics: Lanzarote is an island belonging to the Canary Islands, a group of vulcanic islands in the Atlantic Ocean, out of the African coast. The (not that high craters) have all sorts of beautiful red, grey, black and brown colors.   Parque Nacional Timanfaya (picture from ansicht card, as unfortunately they don't do helicopter flights).  Vulcano Craters (all sleeping).

Cookie Monster Cookie Jar

Image
Suddenly I saw pop up Cookie Monster everywhere on crochet blogs and as soon as my daughter layed eye on it, she wanted one, too. Not too much work, so I made one for her. I didn't use a pattern, but I found the idea at a link party , where lots of this jars were linked up. www.betweennapsontheporch.net

Four pillows in a row - Harlequin Tapestry

Image
A couple of months ago my tried my first tapestry crochet project, namely potholders. The idea was to make a whole blanket in the end, but for some reason my tapestry crochet doesn't look as great as I thought it would look (you see the other colors peeping through everywhere, for example), so after repeatedly trying I gave up the blanket and made a pillow cover.   www.betweennapsontheporch.net If somebody out there has some good advice on tapestry crochet, please, tell me!
